ViewRanger has teamed up with Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) to create more than 400 new hiking routes in the mountainous regions of Marche and Umbria in central Italy.
Founded in 1863, CAI is one of the world’s most prestigious mountaineering organisations and the new project – led by its Fabriano branch – is the result of many years of research and route planning.
The CAI Fabriano route collection contains a mixture of single-day hikes and long-distance trails, all of which are free to download and follow using the ViewRanger app. Covering areas such as the famous Frasassi caves and cities including Loreto, Assisi, Cascia and Norcia, the routes showcase all the major hiking highlights of central Italy’s mountains.
In addition to the new CAI routes, cartographer Monti Editore has published 10 new highly detailed 1:25,000 maps covering central Italy, plus 33 hiking routes, all of which can be downloaded in the ViewRanger app.
And with 40 new 1:25,000 maps published by 4LAND in the mountainous regions of northern Italy, plus a link-up with the Alpine Club of Salò which has created hundreds of new hiking routes around Lake Garda, the new partnerships cement ViewRanger’s position as the number one app for anyone wanting to explore Italy’s great outdoors.
