It's been a busy week at ViewRanger – we've been in Munich helping our partners at Bullitt Group launch the all-new Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone.
The durable Android smartphone has been designed for people who live for adventure and need a phone that can survive whatever it's put through – and it feels very much like the Android smartphone we've all been waiting for.
When the Explore goes on sale in April ViewRanger will be pre-installed on its home screen, giving users one-touch access to detailed offline maps, hundreds of thousands of interactive route guides, and our Skyline augmented reality that uses the phone’s camera to identify more than 9 million geographical features around the world.
The Explore features enhanced durability, a powerful battery, has been drop-tested, can survive underwater (including salt water), and is built to cope with extreme temperatures. And to make sure ViewRanger works seamlessly with it, we've optimised our award-winning Android app to work with the advanced capabilites of the new phone.
Special touches include free access for anyone who buys the Land Rover Explore to ViewRanger’s premium topographic maps for one of 16 countries – including Great Britain, USA, Canada, New Zealand, France, Spain, and Germany. ViewRanger will also use the phone’s built-in barometer to display accurate altitude readings.
Other key features of the Land Rover Explore include additional hardware packs that further enhance the phone’s performance, a toughened HD screen that’s easy to read in bright sunlight, and a sleek design that takes cues from the iconic Land Rover Discovery vehicle.
So overall, a cool launch of a very cool new product, but don't just take our word for it. Bullitt Group are looking for early testers to use the phone and give them feedback before it launches in April. Find more details and sign up here: www.landroverexplore.com
The Land Rover Explore, with the Adventure Pack included, will be available to order for £599 from April 2018 from multiple retailers including Cotswold Outdoor and Snow+Rock in the UK, Sporthaus Schuster in Germany and AS Adventure in Belgium.
