Imagine you’ve just arrived at one of the world’s most exciting outdoor locations.
You’re surrounded by peaks, lakes and forests, with hiking trails snaking across the landscape in every direction. There’s so much adventure on offer you don’t know where to start. But with a simple glance at your wrist, that’s about to change.
With ViewRanger’s new Apple Watch app – available as a free update in the App Store – you can pinpoint your precise location, browse up to 10 routes within a mile (1.6km) of where you’re standing, pick the one you want, then download it directly to your watch. Without even taking your phone out of your backpack!
So whether you’ve just pulled into Yosemite Valley’s Half Dome car park in the USA, Grasmere village in the English Lake District, or a slightly more out-there location like Jungle Lodge Farm in Vietnam, you can discover exciting hiking routes with a flick of the wrist.
Once your route is downloaded simply tap start and let ViewRanger’s GPS navigation guide you along the trail. Exploring the outdoors has never been easier.
And that’s not all…
To make sure you view your route and navigate with as much detail as possible, ViewRanger maps can now be viewed in full-screen mode on Apple Watch. And as well as zooming into maps, you can also pan the map by dragging your finger across the screen – allowing you to view even more of the area you’re exploring.
Of course all the existing features from our previous Watch app – including offline maps, track recording, distance and elevation gain stats, and driving directions to your route’s start point – are all still there.
Add in some shiny new design features to make everything easier to use, and our already great smartwatch app just got even greater!
