ViewRanger Outdoor Challenges 2017 - sign up today!

Posted on 20/12/2016

ViewRanger wants you to make 2017 the most active year of your life by taking part in our Outdoor Challenges.

Last year ViewRanger users around the world hiked and cycled more than 1 million miles as part of our #walk2016 and #bike2016 challenges, and this year we hope you’ll go even further.

As well as walking and cycling, we’ve added a running challenge for 2017, so all you need to do is pick your favourite activity, select the number of miles you think you can cover over the next 12 months, then sign up at

We’ve selected distance categories to suit all abilities and ages, starting from just 250 miles in our shortest walking challenge to a thigh-burning 6000 miles in our expert cycling challenge.

Peaks1.jpgViewRanger will take care of the technical stuff by recording and tracking every mile you cover, ranking you on our overall leaderboard, and allowing you to keep track of your total distance throughout the year.

Leading the way again will be ViewRanger ambassador Hetty Key, who used last year’s walking challenge as motivation to climb Mont Blanc, western Europe’s highest mountain.

Chamonix (202 of 211).jpg“I can't believe it’s been nearly a year since I signed up for ViewRanger's #Walk2016!” said Hetty. “Back in December 2015 the prospect of walking 1,000 miles seemed a little daunting, especially given the number of sports I love doing. Aside from loving a challenge, my main motivation to sign up was to try to discover interesting new routes and places.

“Over the past 12 months I’ve definitely done this. From uncovering new hikes only 15 minutes from my doorstep to epic adventures further afield, this challenge has taken me on some unforgettable adventures. The absolute highlight for me was climbing Mont Blanc, my first 4000m peak. It’s one of the best things I have ever done.

“Looking forward to January, I can’t wait to see where the new ViewRanger challenges take me – I have a feeling it’s going to be another very exciting year!”
