ViewRanger supports BBC Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge 2016

Posted on 21/10/2016

For the sixth consecutive year, we’re proud to be supporting The One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge for BBC Children in Need.

Setting off on Friday 11th November, the team will cover a route across Britain’s East Coast - a 470-mile journey from the Scottish market town of Jedburgh to central London in just eight days.

This year the rickshaw will once again be pedalled by six young riders, all of whom have been supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects. The One Show presenter Matt Baker will be on the road cycling alongside the team offering support and advice throughout the journey, whilst Alex Jones will be following every step of the way, cheering on the team, live from the studio.

The team taking on this year’s challenge is made up of 18-year-old Ebony from Bournemouth, 18-year-old Andy and 18-year-old Phoebe who are both from Derbyshire, 18-year-old Salar from the West Midlands, 17-year-old Olivia from Edinburgh, and 18-year-old Ross from Sunderland.

The Rickshaw is being tracked using ViewRanger's BuddyBeacon, which provides location information to the website, allowing local supporters be able to see when the team will arrive in their area and be there in person to cheer them on. All the tweets and photos sent to Team Rickshaw will also appear on the route map, tagged to the route, so it's a great way to keep up to date with the Team Rickshaw progress.

The 8-day route will go as follows:

Day 1   Jedburgh to Newcastle/Gateshead
Day 2   Newcastle/Gateshead to Hartlepool
Day 3   Hartlepool to Scarborough
Day 4   Scarborough to Hull
Day 5   Hull to Skegness
Day 6   Skegness to Kings Lynn
Day 7   Skegness to Duxford
Day 8   Duxford to London

Friends, family and supporters can view the full route and follow the team’s live progress online, via Make sure to follow us @ViewRanger as we’ll also be tweeting about their progress.
