My.ViewRanger route planner now comes with New Zealand LINZ charts

Posted on 16/10/2011

LINZ logo.gifThe online community and trail plotting website now displays detailed LINZ topographic map charts of New Zealand.  LINZ is the national mapping agency of New Zealand (similar to Ordnance Survey in Great Britain, or IGN in France).

The LINZ map charts are freely viewable by everyone using the My.ViewRanger website, when you view a route (or tramping) guide page, plot a route, or view a track that you have recorded.

Once you have plotted or selected a tramping route, tap "sync" within the ViewRanger app on your iPhone, iPad, Android or Symbian device to transfer the route(s) wirelessly to the app.  Likewise, when you record a track in New Zealand, and sync this up to your web account, you will be able to view this over the LINZ topographic map charts on the My.ViewRanger site.

For off-line, mobile usage, customers can purchase the LINZ mapping they need either in-app for Apple and Android devices or via the Viewranger web shop for Symbian smartphones. Ready for the start of this summer season ViewRanger have reduced the purchase price for all LINZ offline mapping for mobile devices and introduced easy to install low cost regional maps for Apple & Android devices.
