Thinking of France for your outdoor adventure this summer? To get recommendations on the best places to hike, mountain bike and trail run, ViewRanger has teamed up with Lafuma, France’s premier outdoor brand to gain some insiders secrets for our trail guide.
France is a country of great contrast from drama of the Alps to the rolling hills of Normandy, from the savage Atlantic surf to the glow of the Mediterranean. To really appreciate it you need a guide that can tell you where the locals go.
So ViewRanger has partnered up with Lafuma. The app is co-branded in France and we are working together to identify and develop partnerships to find great content for the trail guide.
Over the next couple of months, tourism bodies such as Département de la Drôme and Isere Tourisme, and the recreation sports website Ze Outdoors, will each be contributing routes to a comprehensive trail guide, which will cover the whole of the country and make recommendations for the best hike and bike trails in France. We hope that other partners in France will join us to do the same.
Le Département de la Drôme had already published 70 quality routes including route information and pictures.
A bit about Lafuma
Lafuma has always been at the forefront of innovation and creates products that enhance sports performance. In 1936 it produced one of the first framed rucksacks, the “tyrolien” bag which was used by the first French expedition to the Himalayas. It has continued to push the boundaries and developed the first technical GORE-TEX jacket for less than 150 euros and has created specialist products for trail running and mountaineering.
Lafuma also practices sustainable principles throughout its manufacturing processes and the staff celebrated ecocitizen day last year by helping to clear 2.5 tonnes of rubbish from the famous Mer de Glace glacier which attracts 0.5 million visitors a year.
“Lafuma is all about action. Our customers are either outdoors having fun or planning their next big thing. With the ViewRanger/Lafuma app our customers and others will be able to access recommended trails and share their experiences with a worldwide community.”
