Software Update
Version 2.7 of the ViewRanger software can be downloaded below. The current software build number is 2.7.18 and the current user manual version is 2.7.1 and covers version 2.7.18 of the software.
The changes in this software release are detailed in the release notes. Changes specific to the touch screen version are detailed in the touch screen release notes.
Download direct to your mobile: If you have mobile internet access on your phone, you can update your ViewRanger software by pointing your phone's web browser at www.viewranger.com/software
The ViewRanger software is provided as a SIS file and there are four versions to choose from. See the list of phone models below if you are unsure whether your phone is 2nd, 3rd or 5th edition. If you try to install the wrong one your phone will report an update error - in that case simply try again with the other version.
To download click on the green bold link. In some browsers you may need to right click and choose Save As.
  • S60 3rd Edition Software, 'loc' version
    Most people use this version, it works on all S60 3rd edition phones. It supports both internal and Bluetooth GPSs. To confirm that you need this version start ViewRanger, choose Options > About and check it says 'loc' after the version number.
    If you get an update error when installing then swap to the 'bt' version below.

  • S60 5th Edition Software for Touch Screen Phones
    Software for the 5800 Xpress Music, N97 and i8910 HD phones, supports the touch screen.

  • S60 3rd Edition Software, 'bt' version
    This is a special version that few people use. Only use it if you already use the 'bt' version, which you can check on the About panel. This version only supports Bluetooth GPSs, it does not support internal GPS. If you get an update error when installing then swap to the 'loc' version above.

    For older S60 2nd edition phones, such as the N70 or 6630.

    Installation
    Install the appropriate SIS file using Nokia PC Suite. Do not uninstall the previous version of ViewRanger because this update can be installed over the top of the old version - if you do uninstall you may lose your license keys and settings. There are more detailed instructions in the support FAQ and in the manual. Do not worry if you choose the wrong file or make a mistake, you cannot damage your phone.
    The release notes give an overview of the changes since version 2.6, with some details about the main changes. The user manual has been updated to cover the new functionality and the descriptions of some older features have been revised.
    The Activate menu item is always available in the menu now. It does not indicate that ViewRanger needs to be activated. It is needed for activating map over-the-air tokens. If ViewRanger needs to be activated it will tell you when it starts and also tell you on the About panel.

    • Tell us which version of ViewRanger you are using and which maps are installed
    • If you have seen a warning or error message, give the exact text of the message
    • If you need a new license key include the phone id as reported on Options > Enter license key and and your serial number. If you do not have your serial number please tell us the names of the map product(s) you bought.
