Routes & Guides
You can use the ViewRanger app to access, download and follow routes for walking & biking from both recognized publishers and the ViewRanger community. Around the world we have thousands to choose from.
In the USA, we offer a growing number of expert authored guided trails from Menasha Ridge’s popular “60 hikes in 60 miles” book series and from Wilderness Press.
If you’re stuck for ideas or need the guidance of a local expert, you can simply search the routes directory using your pc or on your mobile and download one to your phone. The price of the guided route will have been set by the author – some are free, but most will cost around $1, a bargain when compared to buying a guide book.
All our guided routes come with the marked path to follow – which can be viewed on the map, along with a text description containing a wealth of navigation advice and local knowledge and photos to help you get the best from your leisure time.
If your chosen route is in a rural area, we recommend you use our detailed USGS/Topo map layers and store the map on your phone, before you hit the trail.
You can search for guided routes, via the app "routes" menu or online at My.ViewRanger.com. Search for routes by author, by location, by place name, even by type. Find out more about our expert guided route authors.
