Cambridge, UK – January
3, 2012 – ViewRanger, the
fully featured outdoor GPS app is debuting at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer
trade show later this month in Salt Lake City, Utah. Created
by outdoor enthusiasts who founded software development company, Augmentra,
Ltd, and hailing from the U.K., the ViewRanger app is available for Apple &
Android smartphone platforms.

On day 1, 2 and 3 of the show at booth
# 32080, the ViewRanger staff will provide brief demos of their award
winning GPS app at 10:30am and 2:30pm. Demo attendees
will be offered a free download as well as the opportunity to learn from the
tech savvy developers why ViewRanger eliminates the need for an additional
handheld GPS device.

ViewRanger includes the highest quality topographic mapping information
that can be downloaded in advance and cached for access when cell phone
coverage is unavailable at the trailhead. The route, once selected and
downloaded, can be enhanced with active navigation along with GPS triggered
electronic guides thanks to a recent partnership with leading U.S. trail book
publisher, Menasha Ridge/Wilderness Press.

Peak bagging takes on a whole new meaning with the ViewRanger BuddyBeacon™
which shares real-time map location with friends. Users can also link their
twitter account to this exclusive ViewRanger web portal to instantly share a
message, image or video.

The app also offers
many useful tools via the web. At My.ViewRanger.com
the adventure begins with shared route planning. This tool works seamlessly
with the app to enable users to create their own routes or utilize preexisting
routes posted by expert publishers or community members. After an outing, the
wireless synchronization enables the adventure and accompanying photos to be
saved and then shared via Facebook or published to the ViewRanger community.

“Our confidence in our technologically advanced app creates a level of
excitement for us at Outdoor Retailer,” states ViewRanger marketing director,
Ian Pond. “We believe our product has the ability to set a new benchmark in
outdoor GPS apps.”
