ViewRanger runs on the iPhone, iPad and on Symbian (Nokia) or Android based phones. It uses the internal GPS, and on Symbian can use a Bluetooth GPS. It supports both keypad based and touch screen based phones. Choose your phone type to read the relevant information:

At the weekend, holidays and in the evening we recommend you use email to contact us. We usually answer emails received before 11pm the same day, 7 days a week - if you don't get a reply please check your spam/junk folder.

If you contact ViewRanger technical support please follow this advice, so we can resolve your query as quickly as possible:

  • Tell us which phone model you are using, or if you are using the web site include a link to the page
  • Include your account email address
  • Give as precise a description of the problem as possible
  • Tell us which version of ViewRanger you are using, and which maps are installed
  • If you have seen a warning or error message, give the exact text of the message

Activation and License Keys: When you install ViewRanger you can activate it in app using Options > Activate (home menu > Help > Activate in Android v4). Or, if your prefer, obtain the license key from the activation page. When you change phone, or add the maps to an extra phone, simply sign into your account again using Settings > Account > Account sign in, it will pick up the extra keys.

Activation of Unlimited Online Maps: When you purchase the USA or Canada Unlimited Online maps in app they are automatically activated and are ready to use from the Online Maps entry in the Organizer map list.   If you purchase direct from our web site, you will be sent a serial number, which you need to activate.  Here are the instructions for using Unlimited OpenMaps on the Android and iPhone. 

Buddy Beacon: The Buddy Beacon enables you to send your position to the ViewRanger server and to allow other people to use a PIN to follow your position. Positions can be watched on the Buddy Beacon web page or within ViewRanger.
