Change phone

It is free to move ViewRanger to a new phone.  You can also install and use the maps on additional phones and tablets, with a maximum of 4 active at once. 

You can also view your maps at my.viewranger.com where you can create and edit routes, and share your route and track data between devices. (My.ViewRanger displays maps of usa, gb, ie, ni, fi, fr, de, es, nl, nz, ca and at. Other countries coming.)

Steps to change or add a device

  • Upload existing routes and tracks to our web site
  • Install app
  • Open the app and sign into your account
  • Install maps

Upload existing routes and tracks to our web site

On the existing device press Menu tab (in green bar), Settings, Sycronize and tick, Upload routes and also tracks.
Then use Menu tab, Sycronize content.  Later, they can be download onto the new device with Sycornize content.
If you have many POIs you must keep these must be backed up on the old device via GPX files.

Install app

Use your phone's app store application to find and install the app - Apple's App Store, Android's Play Store.  The ViewRanger Open edition of the app is free on all platforms.

Sign in to License Maps on New Device

Run the app and when it prompts sign into your ViewRanger account.

If you don't see the prompt, or if you are told there are unlicensed maps, sign in using Menu tab, My Account.

When you sign in, the app connects to our server and collects the latest map licenses for your account.

Install Maps

iPhone/iPad

Menu/Cog tab, My maps, My maps tab (you must sign into your account in app first).

Alternativly, if you have replaced your iPhone or iPad with a new iPhone or iPad use iTunes backup and restore to recover your maps.
