Richard Brennan
Chairman
Richard Brennan is a seasoned Senior Executive in the Telecommunications industry with significant strengths in Global Marketing and Branding. He joined Hutchison Whampoa in 1993 in the UK as part of the Founding Executive Management Team for Orange plc. He has held Board positions with Mobistar, GSMA CEO Board, and was Chairman of the Board for Wildfire, Inc. He now works around the globe with innovative, energetic, and fast moving companies. He also serves as an Executive Consultant for HTC, specifically assisting them break into the competitive world of consumer branded smartphones. Richard is a keen cyclist and runner, and fundamentally believes the intelligence being built into smartphones will revolutionise the way mobiles are used for recreational outdoor activities.
Craig Wareham
Founder and CEO
Craig Wareham is an experienced manager for the development, sales and marketing of visual computing technology and applications. Before co-founding Augmentra in 2006, Craig was VP Marketing at ART VPS Ltd, where he was responsible for building the company's market-leading position in high-quality 3D visual-processing solutions for the professional design market. Craig was part of the start-up team at Cambridge Animation Systems, where he latterly managed many of the company's key relationships with major studios in Hollywood. Craig pioneered and developed several user-interface tools at Cambridge Animation, and prior to that at Spaceward Microsystems, which were adopted by other applications in the computer-graphics industry.
Mike Brocklehurst
Founder and CTO
Mike Brocklehurst draws on many years of successful leadership and innovation within complex software projects in start-up and emerging companies. Prior to co-founding Augmentra, Mike was VP Engineering and Operations at ART VPS Ltd where he was responsible for the company's Engineering, Customer Service, Quality Assurance and Production operations. Mike was previously part of the start-up team at Cambridge Animation Systems where he was Software Projects Manager, responsible for overseeing successful development of the company's market leading software products. Mike is an author on several patents relating to 2D and 3D visual technology. Mike gained a degree in Mathematics followed by a Postgraduate Computer Science Diploma at Christ's College, University of Cambridge. Mike is a passionate hill-walker and frequent visitor to the Lake District for walking and landscape photography.
Ian Pond
Chief Marketing Officer
Ian Pond brings 20 years mobile industry marketing experience to the company and was a member of the original team that developed and launched the Orange brand, widely cited as the start of brand-led marketing in the mobile industry. As a member of Orange's international board, Ian led teams undertaking rebranding programmes, new licence bids and business start ups around the world, Since leaving Orange/France Telecom in 2005, Ian has undertaken projects with Du & Qtel in the Middle East, consulted to TomTom and HTC and held senior roles with MVNO's Extreme Mobile and Truphone. Ian is a passionate game fisherman, a North Devon surfer, walker and accident-prone cyclist.
Simon Thorpe
Non-executive Director
Simon Thorpe was formerly COO of Global Equity Research at UBS Investment Bank, where he ran a number of research teams including technology and telecoms. Simon is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is also a Senior Adviser to Eleven Canterbury, a global network of advisers mentoring technology companies and a Non-Executive Director of Mantle Plc , a commercial property company. Simon is a keen mountain bike and road cyclist, and an active supporter of Sustrans.
Gérard Legtmann
Non-executive Director
Gérard Legtmann brings significant international business experience and insight to the company with senior executive and CEO experience with major listed companies in Europe, the US and Australia. He has worked in 7 European countries as well as the US and South Africa; has a multi-cultural background and is trilingual in English, French and German and fluent in Spanish and Italian. He is founding partner of a venture capital firm and member of the board of two venture capital funds. A keen walker, Gérard has climbed in the Himalayas but is currently more likely to be found using ViewRanger to walk around the Oxfordshire countryside with his children. He is also a passionate skier and mountain biker as well as a water sports enthusiast.
Margie Cohen
Advisor (US Market)
Margie Cohen lends her twenty years of business and entrepreneurial experience to aid ViewRanger with its U.S. endeavors. In her previous position as Director of Marketing & Development for American Hiking Society, Margie guided the organization’s marketing strategy and initiatives and focused on business development – generating support from corporations, individuals and foundations. Margie also founded and operated (for ten years), Geared To Go, an outdoor retailer and outfitter. She earned her MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University and a BA in Economics from Tufts University. Margie brings a wealth of knowledge related to hiking trails and deep connections with the conservation, trail, and outdoor industry organizations.
Kurt Lyall
Advisor
Kurt Lyall has worked with a range of successful businesses from start-up to blue-chip to launch innovative web and mobile solutions. Now Co-founder of RocketRoute Ltd, Kurt was previously managing director of TomTom's mobile division in Amsterdam. Prior to TomTom, Kurt co-founded FirstPartner, a research and marketing consultancy, which was later sold to Vertical Group ASA. Before FirstPartner, Kurt worked for worked for Credit Suisse and DLJ as an Equity Analyst.
