Celebrating the UK’s Search & Rescue teams this Volunteers’ Week

ViewRanger in useEstablished in 1984, Volunteers’ Week celebrates the fantastic work of millions of volunteers across the UK, from everyday volunteers to those who have dedicated their lives to volunteering. Here at ViewRanger we also want to celebrate #volunteersweek2016, to support and thank those who selflessly give their time to a cause that’s close to our heart. Here’s to the dedicated volunteers that make up the UK’s Search and Rescue (SAR) teams!

ViewRanger proudly works with all UK SAR teams to provide them with mapping to aid in their rescues, including Search and Rescue ALSAR, HM Coastguard and Mountain Rescue England and Wales, as well as local teams in the tip of Scotland to those working in the tail of Cornwall. The teams are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, voluntarily, and help find lost children, adults and animals; not forgetting friends, family and loved ones. Over 1,500 people a year are rescued from everything from tricky situations to life-threatening incidents, all thanks to the dedication of the SAR teams.

It’s certainly a rewarding and admirable job, and these volunteers not only deserve one week of acknowledgement but an extended one for 2016! #volunteersweek2016 will run for an extra week this year, so celebrate SAR teams with us, as their amazing work allows us to enjoy the great outdoors safely and with peace of mind.

It’s really easy to get involved with your local Search and Rescue team – just search online for SAR teams in your area and get in touch!
