Walk this way with ViewRanger this half term

Posted on 26/10/2015

With half term starting this week, ViewRanger is making it easier for parents to plan a day out and explore a new area as a family. Teaming up with the National Trust and other outdoor organisations, a new digital walking route collection has been launched, encouraging families to get active outdoors and explore new areas this autumn.

The new School’s Out collection of family friendly walks from all around the UK can be downloaded to smartphones and tablets free of charge and includes coastal route guides supplied by the National Trust, which include detailed waypoint information, photos and information about wildlife and the local area history.

The route guides include photos and other helpful information and can be downloaded quickly and stored on a mobile device – a mobile signal is not required to navigate using the guide.

There are 20 walking routes to choose from in the collection, contributed by partners including Get Out With The Kids, a website which supports parents taking up outdoor pursuits with their family.

The School’s Out collection also includes guides from Capture Outdoors, an organisation dedicated to creativity in the outdoors, professional photographer Jo Bradford, and Beth Pipe, writer, hiker and founder of the Cumbrian Rambler.
