Look after your Smartphone

Taking your expensive smartphone on an Outdoor adventure is of understandable concern to most people, including for us at ViewRanger. The two major issues that come up most frequently are; extending battery life and protecting your device from the elements. We recommend that you give both these some thought and seriously consider purchasing appropriate accessories to give you peace of mind before heading out. Even with these costs, you'll still be saving yourself a big sum compared to purchasing a separate dedicated GPS. 

Non-Mains Battery Recharge

Powertraveller make a range of award-winning portable power and solar chargers.

We use their Powermonkey-eXplorer product, which includes adapters for most mobile phones. The secondary supply battery can be charged via the mains, via a USB or using the solar panel that comes with this product. Weather Protection

With the possible exception of the Motorola Defy, smartphones are not designed to be exposed to the weather.

There are a wide range of cases available, some specific to the phone size and shape. However a popular product is the Proporta Beachbuoy, these cases let you view and use the touchscreen, whilst safely sealed against the rain and knocks. 

Bike Mounts

Smartphone Gloves

Using a touchscreen wearing normal gloves is impossible as the touchscreen relies on electrical contact with the skin, heres the solution. eGlove produce a range of smartphone gloves designed to allow you to use your smartphone’s touchscreen without the need to remove them.
