ViewRanger, the outdoor GPS app and global community for outdoor enthusiasts, has released its 2018 Top Publisher Awards. Ten outdoor organizations and authors received the company’s top award for contributing outstanding digital content, including route descriptions, turn-by-turn directions and photos to share with the growing ViewRanger outdoor community.
This year’s winners span the globe from UK, USA, Germany, Sweden, and Italy. They include: Alison Mackenzie, Michael Will, Northumberland National Park Authority, Pro-M Tracciati, Roanoke Outside, The Royal Geographical Society, Rucksack Rose, Skåneleden Trail, Skye Strolls Woodbridge, and Traccia Italia.
"We’re delighted to be associated with so many outstanding outdoor publishers who use the ViewRanger platform to create and distribute unique and engaging trail guides," ViewRanger CEO Craig Wareham said. "It doesn’t matter if you’re a global brand or an individual who shares routes in your local area – what matters is the quality and popularity of the trail guides, and these ten publishers have all set the bar very high."
"By publishing our routes on ViewRanger, we’ve been able to reach even greater numbers of people, helping them to engage more deeply with the landscape and Britain’s diverse geography," said Caroline Millar, project manager at Discovering Britain, a project created by The Royal Geographical Society. "Discovering Britain is all about getting people outside to enjoy the landscape and experience the stories beyond the view, and we'll be adding lots more walks through ViewRanger over the coming months."
ViewRanger hosts trail guides from thousands of professional publishing partners, organizations, and local experts around the world, making it quick and easy for active outdoor enthusiasts to find interesting walks, hikes, and rides worldwide. Explorers can find, follow, and download maps for each guide in the free ViewRanger app on a smartphone, smartwatch, or tablet.
