ViewRanger has been awarded the coveted Top Developer Badge on Google Play, in recognition of its constant improvement and innovation.
Less than 500 app developers worldwide have been recognised with this designation.
The award follows ViewRanger’s launch of a major upgrade earlier this year which combined a fresh visual approach and more intuitive layout, designed to help everyone use the app to its full potential.
Craig Wareham, ViewRanger CEO and co-founder, said: “The Top Developer badge recognises established and respected developers for their commitment to launching high quality and innovative apps on Android.
“Google Play editorial staff award the Top Developer badge from time-to-time based on the cumulative work of the developer, as a long-term recognition of all of the developer’s apps. It is extremely satisfying to see ViewRanger recognised in this way and is testament to many years of hard work from the team as well as the enthusiasm and feedback from many expert users over the years.”
The Top Developer badge, which appears next to the developer name in Google Play, signifies an additional level of trust and confidence users have in a developer’s products.
Craig added: “The recent upgrade was just the first in a series of developments that will be rolled out in the coming months – it’s the start of a new journey for ViewRanger, building upon a well established reputation for reliable outdoor navigation, which will help more people make better use of digital technology to discover the great outdoors at home and abroad.”
ViewRanger offers detailed topographic maps and trail guides from national mapping agencies, guidebook authors, and tourism organizations around the world, as well as from the app’s global user community.
The app is designed to appeal to individuals participating at different levels within a range of outdoor activities including walking, cycling, and horse-riding. As the app learns the activities, locations, and general route profile each user interacts with most often, the trail suggestions highlighted by the app become more closely tailored to the individual's preferences.
