London walks give a unique introduction to the capital.
It would be impossible to enjoy all that London has to offer in a day. But if you want to make the most of your time in the capital, our selection of the best London walks are a great way to go about it.

5.15 miles, easy
There are many reasons that London is the most visited city in the world. This free to download walk by Tim Millsop showcases many of them.
The five mile route takes you from Paddington through Hyde Park, and then down London’s most famous streets, including the Mall and Fleet Street.
Along the way you’ll see walk past such impossible to miss landmarks as Buckingham Palace and St Paul’s cathedral, so don’t be afraid to stop and look around while you’re walking.
5 miles, easy
For a more modern approach to sightseeing, Walking World’s Twentieth Century London route showcases some of the city’s best post-war architecture.
The route, created in conjunction with the Twentieth Century Society, takes you through Camden, the City of London and Southbank, showcasing a broad range of twentieth century architecture, from Senate House to the Tate Modern.
1.28 miles, very easy
If all this walking has made you thirsty, CAMRA has created many pub walks around the capital. One of the best of these is ‘A circuit of Covent Garden’.
Take in the sites of the area such as the Royal Opera House while also enjoying six different pubs and bars. The best of these is undoubtedly the Harp, winner of the CAMRA national pub of the year award 2011.
4.81 miles, easy
For a more cultural option, consider LoveCamden’s Charles Dickens Walk, produced in association with the Charles Dickens Museum.
This free walk visits places that the author lived, worked and went to school. See if you can imagine what the area was like when Dickens was writing in the 19th century, or visit the museum and see some of Dickens’ personal items and manuscripts.
5.14 miles, medium
Even though London is a busy city, quiet, green areas can also be found. Nikos Polydorou’s Hampstead Heath circular covers the breadth of the famous park and is available to download for free.
Enjoy the great view of the city from Parliament Hill and enjoy the traditional bathing ponds on the east side of the Heath. This walk is suited for more experienced walkers; just remember to bring a good pair of shoes!
