Britain has a wealth of walking festivals. March

1st March to 30th June 2013 South West Coast Path. The South West Coast Path will be celebrating it’s 40th anniversary in 2013, www.GreatSouthWestWalk.co.uk

 

1st March - 10th March 2013 Crickhowell Walking Festival. A walking festival with a difference! There are more than 70 guided walks catering for all ages, abilities and interests - the only common element is that they all take place within the stunning landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. http://www.crickhowellfestival.com/

3rd April – 7th May 2013 Great South West Walk. The aim is to put 40 years of love back into the coast path. 26th April - 12th May 2013 Peak District Walking and Outdoor Festival. Enjoy more than 100 events and walks on a wide range of themes during the Peak District Walking & Outdoor Festival, including a three day walk along the White to Dark Way – specially devised by Country Walking Magazine to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2012 – and a four-day trek along the scenic Derwent Valley Heritage Way. http://www.visitpeakdistrict.com

27th April - 6th May 2013 North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival. A walking festival in two halfs - North Devon for the first half of the week, and Exmoor in the last.  Possibly the UKs most scenic walking festival! http://www.exmoorwalkingfestival.co.uk/

 

27th April - 6th May 2013 Haltwhistle Spring Walking Festival. The Northumberland walking festival returns - and it's bound to be even better as they celebrate thier 10th Birthday and the 21st Walking Festival!  The festival provides the gateway to Hadrian's Wall Country, Northumberland National Park and the North Pennines AONB. http://www.haltwhistlewalkingfestival.org/

 

27 April - 6 May 2013 Ulverston WalkFest. Set on the fringe of the beautiful Lake District the 14th annual Ulverston walking festival celebrates the town and surrounding area’s rich history. The festival programme will offer walks for all ages and abilities including the Sir John Barrow Amble, a walk in the footsteps of the Quakers, "Walks for Wheels", nature walks and map reading activities. 4 May -  6 May 2013 Talgarth Walking Festival 2013. Celebrate Spring's arrival at Talgarth's first ever Walking Festival. You will have the chance to see castles and mountains, red kites and otters, an ancient hill fort, burial mounds, waterfalls, and a restored watermill. 11 May - 2 June 2013 Suffolk Walking Festival. Join us on over 50 walks across Suffolk from Flights of Fancy to Weaving Through Fields of Flax. The Discover Suffolk Challenge Walk will be a 5-day guided walk along the entire coastline of Suffolk.

31st August – 1st September 2013 Corwen Walking Festival 2013. The Corwen Walking Festival will take place on the 31st of August and the 1st of September 2013. 21st December - 5th January 2014 Ramblers Festival of Winter Walks. Hundreds of walks take place around the country during the festival. All are free, fun and open to anyone and everyone from toddlers to grandparents. Chosen and led by Ramblers volunteers, the walks will showcase Britain at its wintry best. Many of the walks are short and family-friendly, although there are always plenty of yomps for the seasoned hiker too.
