This week we will be releasing a new edition of ViewRanger for Android. The new release Version 3.2.0 addresses a number of reported bugs, but will be most noticeable by the addition of new account sign-in pages.
Creating an account and signing-in to ViewRanger means that you can get the most from our app like being able to use our BuddyBeacon location sharing service and our web based route planning and track sharing tools at www.my.viewranger.com. It also lets you get a free taster of our premium topographic maps, like the two free tiles of GB Ordnance Survey mapping.
The account creation and sign-in process is based on your email address and a password. However the new pages also give you the option of setting up your name and to add a profile photo which really personalises the service, when you come to use our recently launched social sharing features - find out more.
Version 3.2.0 is also important to us because it's the first release built by our new Android developer - Plato Balomenakis. Plato joined the ViewRanger team in June 2012, he is Greek from Athens and has been working as a software developer for the last 6 years, most recently focusing on mobile and location based services.
The new version will be available shortly through Google Play and will be delivered with any new map purchases (for Android) from the ViewRanger webshop.
