ViewRanger Adds to Netherlands Maps

Posted on 13/07/2012

We are delighted to say that we have added to our extensive mapping portfolio by signing an agreement with Kadaster, the National Mapping Authority in the Netherlands.  ViewRanger now offers premium topographic mapping for 19 countries around the world, alongside global open-sourced maps, through our app for Apple, Android, Symbian, and Blackberry Playbook mobile devices.

Kadaster, National Mapping Authority Topographic maps for GPS app

The deal with Kadaster brings detailed topographic maps at 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 scale - perfect for a wide range of outdoor leisure activities.  The Netherlands has 20 national parks and hundreds of other nature reserves, and the popularity of sports such as cycling and skating makes the ViewRanger app an ideal companion for any outdoor enthusiast whether resident or a visitor to the Netherlands.

The Kadaster topographic mapping is available to download within the ViewRanger app (Apple and Android edition) or through the ViewRanger webshop (Android and Symbian edition).  Popular regions and provinces can be purchased as pre-defined areas, or individual map tiles can be downloaded for just 7 pence for a 25km2 area - providing pricing and mapping flexibility.  Mapping is downloaded to the mobile device so that it can be used "offline", without relying on a mobile network signal being available.

With our app being downloaded and used globally, we are working hard to deliver the best map and navigation experience to outdoor recreation enthusiasts worldwide. ViewRanger offers the best detailed terrain mapping in an ever growing range of countries - and this update for the Netherlands is part of our continuing committment to source the best maps from the best map publishers.

The ViewRanger app is available as a free download through Apple Appstore, Google Play, and Nokia OVI appstores.  The free app offers fully featured outdoor gps navigation, mapping, track recording, and social trip sharing features.  Free global 'open' maps and crowd-sourced trail guides can be downloaded.  Users can choose to purchase premium map and trail guide content, sourced from more than 400 leading publishing brands.
